ANTHROPIZED LANDSCAPE
The human being constantly change landscape, making it akin to their own needs; we could hardly consider a place "natural", because the environment is a sum of natural and historical conditions that determine the form, function and aesthetics.
The competition area over the years has undergone significant changes since it was directly influenced by man: from natural promontory at the quarry, from the quarry to square, adding contamination due to the proximity of Arbatax town center with its port.
The square in time failing to find a logical position in the economic life of Arbatax, turns out to be a junkspace detached from any kind of dynamic living.
The project plans to reorganize a social economic fabric, the square will be integrated into daily dynamics and not only a useful space for temporary exhibitions how is used today.
THE WATERFRONT
The waterfront of Arbatax can not be simplified considering the views only of the inner harbor, but also extended to the north coast where red cliffs overlooking the Square, as it is one of the first things seen approaching the coast from north-east.
Four main elements of the waterfront: the Spanish tower, the church of Stella Maris, the port and a public building is not finished; Piazzale Scogli Rossi although located far from the access to the port, it becomes the main landmark for Arbatax becoming the main interesting thing when close to the ferry dock.
